My Brother's Birthday Card

Tonight was a personal card making night. It's my brother's birthday next week and I had forgotten that this is a holiday weekend, so the card will be there late I'm sure (note the stamping on the envelope from the Furnished with Love stamp set).

Making a card for a man is a challenge in itself. My brother's personality was pulling me towards the black/red/white, but after visiting InkyMoose's blog tonight I got inspired to try black/bashful blue/white and since today I got my new distress tool, I just had to go a little shabby.

Grab Bag

On the clearance rack this month Stampin' Up! had grab bags for sale. I was quite pleased when I opened mine up and found all the requirements to make 34 or so cards in several sizes. Tonight I started playing with them to see what I could produce, here's the result.

First this was the content, as Stampin' Up! ran out of the $18.00 bags they shipped us a $6.00 bag and a $12.00 bag.

$6.00 bag

$12.00 bag

These are the cards I made:

This is my favorite and why?

Because, I have a confession, I am a PACK RAT! I keep all my little tidbits of paper, ribbon, you name it. This card allowed me to use a few bits of ribbon and paper and proved that it's worth saving them.

From everything that was in the bags, the only thing I haven't figured out what I will do with is the 4 pages of castle die cuts, but I'm working on it.

Back to Basics - This one is for all the beginners out there.

When I first joined Stampin’ Up! I couldn’t imagine being a beginner and facing all the options Stampin’ Up! had to offer so, I made a list of recommended products for the beginners to purchase, to maximize the variety of cards they could make. This was all based on theory. So tonight, I went back to basics and challenged myself to produce at least 4 cards for 4 occasions with some of the items I had on my “recommended list”. This is the result:

Congratulations on your new baby
Thanks I needed that
Happy Together
Get well wishes

In total I used;
2 sheets of coloured 8 ½ x 11 cardstock
½ sheet of 8 ½ x 11 whisper white cardstock
¼ sheet of Designer Series Paper
2 stamps sets
5 ink spots
2 lengths of ribbon
1 length of string
4 dimensionals

The tools I used where
Slicer (because I couldn’t cut a straight line if my life depended on it)
Scissors
Standard hole punch (the kind you used in school)
Snail adhesive
Sponges
Blender Pen
Versa Marker
White Gel Pen

So if you're a beginner and seeing all these blogs with elaborate cards and thinking I couldn't do that. Just remember we all started at the basics.

Welcome Gift

During our Atlantic Stampers Ink quarterly meeting this past weekend Sandi welcomed me to the team with this beautiful boxed set of cards. (Thank you Sandi they are so adorable) and the details of the box.

Mother's Day Card and Gift Set

Hi Ladies,

I had so much fun making this set, I'm hoping you'll join me April 26th or 28th, 2011, so you can make one for a special person in your life who deserves to be recognized on Mother's Day.

For the set, you will have a few choices of colours, the Certainly Celery as shown, Pretty in Pink or Rich Razzelberry.
For the inside of the card you will have several choices of verses or poems to include.
The little purse can hold something small like a lip balm, a few chocolates or a gift card.
The post it notes will all be stamped with a simple message of "In everything give thanks"
The Pen is made to coordinate with the Post it Note holder.
Hope you can join us!

If forgot to mention, my original note pad did not have a calendar, but my great upline Carol suggested and provided me with enough for everyone.  Thanks Carol, you can visit her blog by clicking here she shares some wonderful creations.

Atlantic Stampers Ink Meeting

Well this weekend I finally had the opportunity to meet the rest of the team I belong to as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, and what a group they are. We had a road trip, lunch and shared some projects we had worked on. One of them was our quaterly challenge to create a Wedding Set complete with Invitation, RSVP, Favor and Thank you card. They were all unique and so beautiful. This is a wonderful way for us to share ideas and techniques and learning I did. I listened with intensity as these ladies have all been with Stampin' Up! for a while and have great ideas on how to conduct classes and workshops.

Here is the Wedding Set I prepared
